Dimosari Waterfalls near Nydri: Walk It Yourself or Book a Tour?
Updated October 22, 2026 · 4 min read
You do not need a tour to see the Dimosari waterfalls, and that is the honest starting point. The waterfall lies about 3 km west of Nydri, entry is free, and a travel blog that describes the walk says it takes about twenty minutes to reach the end of the trail. The only booked tour that includes it, the Demosari Waterfalls, Winery and Olive Oil tour, costs from €80, has 4.8 stars from only 10 reviews, and sells you the combination of stops and the transport, not the waterfall.
| Option | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Go on your own | free entry | the waterfall and its pool, at your own time |
| Waterfalls, winery and olive oil tour | from €80 | pickup, waterfall, winery tasting, olive oil museum, monastery, Sivota |
The waterfall itself
The footpath is described as gentle, without steep rocks in the way, which makes it a route for beginner walkers. The water falls into a small natural pool where you can swim, and the same guide warns that it will probably be ice-cold. The waterfall is about 12 m high, according to one walking guide. Longer hikes through the gorge exist, but the short walk to the main fall is the usual visit.
The guide recommends going early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the water flows more and there are probably no crowds. Bring swimwear and shoes with grip: the tour page asks for comfortable shoes and swimwear for the dip, and the same applies if you go alone.
What the tour adds
The tour is a pickup tour with up to 19 people. The booking page lists six pickup points in and around Nydri and Lefkada, then in this order: about an hour at the waterfall, a winery visit with tasting, an olive oil museum, the monastery of Agios Ioannis Theologos with frescoes, and time at a gift shop, ending in the fishing village of Sivota. Lunch there is not included in the price, though the highlights mention it.
So the tour pays for the pickup and a ready-made programme of stops that you would otherwise need a car and a plan for. If you have no car, no wish to drive winding roads, and an interest in wine and olive oil, that is a fair reason to book. If you only want the waterfall, it is not.
The page says the tour is not suitable for people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users, so ask the operator before booking if anyone in your group walks with difficulty.

Other walks with food
One guided hike combines walking with olive oil: the Path of Springs hike with olive oil tasting at €63 has 4.7 stars from 3 reviews, so read its page closely. More activities on land are under things to do in Lefkada and food, wine and olive oil on Lefkada.
If you would rather be on the water
Nydri’s boat trips and kayak tours are what the town is known for. For a calmer paddle, see Blue Cave kayak on Lefkada, or Skorpios and Madouri: kayak or boat.
Our recommendation
Go to the waterfall on your own, early or late in the day, and spend the €80 elsewhere unless the winery, the olive oil museum and Sivota are the point of your day. In that case book the waterfalls, winery and olive oil tour, bring cash for lunch, and treat the 4.8 rating as promising rather than proven.
